On the way to EXPO -2017

Within the framework of the implementation the National Plan on the Organization and Conducting the EXPO-2017 International Specialized Exhibition, No. 715 approved by the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on July 10, 2013, as well as according to the Activity Plan on the Involvement of Tourists to the EXPO-2017 International Specialized Exhibition, the Department of Tourism jointly with the KSU named after Shokan Ualikhanov and the Shchuchinsk Pedagogical College organized short-term courses (according to the 72nd hour program) for accelerated training of guides (guide-interpreters) and guides who are fluent in foreign languages at the Department of Education of the Akmola region.
The main goal of courses is to train listeners in techniques and methods of conducting excursions, to acquaint with the main stages of historical development of the native land, inclusion of Kazakhstan into the tourist market, to systematize knowledge of folk customs and traditions, legends of Burabay and Zerenda, and characteristics of their natural environment.
The training is provided in a lecture form with elements of practical use of colloquial material during an excursion both in Russian, and in English. The total number of trainees is 29 people, including 20 listeners at the pedagogical college and 10 at the "Shokan" IKTs.
Upon the termination of the guide′s courses the trainees have to gain related knowledge, skills and abilities.
The courses were opened since April 18 this year for both groups; the classes were conducted 2 times a week. 5 educational excursions on the following subjects were organized during the training: "Borovoye is the Pearl of Kazakhstan" with visit to the Museums of Nature and Abylay Khan, "Zerenda is a Wonderful Land", "Astana is the Capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan", the "Bolektau Mount" and two educational excursions with working off of a technique of conducting excursions on separate sub-topics.
The test excursions, delivery of certificates on the termination of courses will take place on June 24 for listeners of Kokshetau city and on June 25, 2016 for students of the pedagogical college.
